Birthday Card for Gary WT282 CPS178

This is a birthday card for my brother, Gary in California. He LOVES old cars...moreso classics from 50s/60s, but I think he'll like this too. I used a panel from my Graphics45 dp as my main image and a key sticker. The card base is actually a card that my husband received (love to recycle). Loved the flap with the brads. Used that and covered rest in various cardstocks, including the core'dinations cuttlebugged and sanded panel. The piercing is for today's Splitcoaststampers Ways to Use It Challenge - WT282 (stick it - use pins and needles or sticks, either as elements on your card, or to pierce), found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/ways-use-f46/wt282-stick-8-5-2010-a-t501372.html. The layout is a sketch challenge - CPS178 - from Card Positioning Systems, found here: http://cardpositioningsystems.blogspot.com/2010/08/cps-178-part-1.html.

Happy Birthday Chaz

This is a card for our son-in-law, Chaz. When I saw the Splitcoaststampers Sketch Challenge today - SC292 - I thought, OMG! that is weird!!! (no offense to the creator), I don't think I'm going to try that one! lol But, I turned it sideways, and knowing I had to make a birthday card, the candle idea came to me. Well, just so happens I had these cute digi candles by gtc-crafty corner, which is here: http://gtc-craftycorner.blogspot.com/. So, I put three of them together and scewed them to fit the design, colored with copics, found the make a wish sentiment (sorry, can't remember where I got that...if anyone knows, please tell me and I'll give credit here), cuttlebugged the core'dinations cardstock, sanded it, and put it all together. Some Stickles, and there you have it! Nice cheery birthday card for a guy! Hope he likes it, and that you do to!
I used the colors from Color Throwdown - CTD104, which can be found here: http://colorthrowdown.blogspot.com/2010/08/color-throwdown-104.html.

Glass Flowers MMTPT105 CC282 CAS78 SSS67

This card was inspired by the beautiful digital image by priscillastyles. She gave this image away to members of her group at Crafters Digital Art Center, found here: http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/priscillastylesstore.

The sentiment is a freebie from TLC Creations, found here: http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/.

I used 4 different challenges to design my card:

1. Splitcoaststampers Teapot Tuesday Challenge - MMTPT105 - found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/teapot-tuesdays-f260/mmtpt105-~-petticoats-bloomers-tea-its-penelope-blossum-bea-t501075.html;

2. Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge - CC282 - found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/color-combinations-f43/cc282-blushing-riding-expresso-8-03-10-a-t501079.html;

3. Splitcoaststampers Clean and Simple Challenge - CAS78 - found here: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/clean-simple-cards-f239/cas78-ways-use-polka-dots-t500940.html; and

4. The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge Blog - SSS67 - found here: http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/.

I used to have some glass flowers, and this image reminded me of them, so after coloring the vase and flowers with copics, I added glossy accents and stickles to make them look like glass flowers. I love the way this came out...hope you do too! tfl

Moonlighting MMSC65

When Bob and I sat down to read the newspaper yesterday, my eye was instantly drawn to the photo at right, and my mind said "CARD!!!!!" hehe I know, kinda scary, but here's my card, inspired by that photo.

I used the sketch from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge - MMSC65 - which I found in the Sneak Peek section at priscillastyles. Love that she gives us a sneak peek so we can use it when we're inspired! The challenge is now up here: http://priscillastyles.blogspot.com/2010/08/midnight-madness-sketch-challenge-65.html.

The bird on the wire image is a freebie from the "deliciousdoodles" group at Crafters Digital Art Center. You can find it here: http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/deliciousdoodles. I used my Scrapbook Factory Deluxe program to arrange 2 of them and make the "moonlighting" title (Bob's idea, by the way, isn't he clever??!!). Then made a mask with post-its for the moon and over the title, sprayed with Glimmer Mist, then dried with heat gun. Matted on black glitter paper and doily. Mounted on some of my favorite dp, black-white polka dotted ribbon and bow, and Voila!!! Moonlighting! tfl
